About OutdoorAdvertising.es

OutdoorAdvertising.es Research · Updated November 2026

OutdoorAdvertising.es is an independent, English-language publication about outdoor advertising in Spain: billboards and roadside signs, street furniture and concessions, transport and airports, digital screens, heritage signs and the audiences who see them. Our first focus is mobile advertising, because that is where Spain's rules are least coherent.

What we stand for

Spain should regulate how advertising uses public space, not prohibit the medium itself. We argue for proportionate rules: let bikes, vans and people move freely; stop anyone taking over the street; restrict screens, noise, blocked pavements and litter; and make those who ban a medium show why.

We criticise councils when their rules don't match their stated aims, and the trade when operators behave badly. Our responsible mobile advertising standard applies to both.

How we work

Our findings come from primary texts: ordinances, official bulletins, court judgments and regulators' reports. We separate facts from opinion, show our sources, date everything and correct mistakes in public. Read how we research and our corrections log.

Who we are

Research is published as OutdoorAdvertising.es Research. The editor is Jon Grocott.

Independence

We are not funded by councils, advertising operators or industry associations. If that ever changes, we will say so on this page.
